The Story
As a narrative, you have at risk students that have been dealt a bad hand in life. They are the underdogs and
the students that many expect to fail. Conversely, you have the mentor, the teacher that believes in them and
is determined to equip his students with the right tools to build a life for themselves. A life of integrity, respect
and accountability. In the end we feel this documentary will be an inspirational story of hope that will bring
national awareness to the plight of today’s urban male teens. This compelling story aims to resonate deep
within the hearts of audiences and encourage everyone to reach out to their own communities to find solutions.
As a result it will not only act as a catalyst but as a turning point to how we must view this lost population. A
population that just needs someone to believe in them
Violence Prevention Programs
We will look at the topic of male teen violence. Specifically, how it relates to dropout rates as well as which
in school programs have been successful in reducing violence. Issues such as anger, acting out and violent
male tendencies must be addressed in middle school. This allows for a more effective intervention and will
prevent these behaviors from becoming hardwired and automatic. Otherwise, is not addressed such behaviors
may lead to low self-esteem, acting out in class, truancy, suspensions, and ultimately dropping out of high
school and possible incarceration.
